Bethel (Tenn.) advances after defeating Georgetown (Ky.) in the Elimination Game to open the 2025 MSC Softball Tournament

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. –
Behind a complete-game shutout from Bethel’s (Tenn.) Amelia Sherrill No. 5 seed Bethel (Tenn.) earned a 5-0 victory over No. 5 seed Georgetown (Ky.) on Wednesday evening in the opening round of the Mid-South Conference Softball Tournament at Cathi Maynard Park.

With the win, the Wildcats move on in the double-elimination Tournament and will face No. 3 seed Campbellsville (Ky.) on Thursday at 1:30 P.M. C.T.

Sherrill performed well from the circle, allowing just three hits over seven innings. The senior had 1 strikeout, 0 walks, and retired 11 of the final 12 batters she faced to close out the win.

After a scoreless first, Bethel got on the board with single runs in the second and third innings, then broke things open with a three-run fourth. Miranda Carnell delivered the big hit with a two-RBI single, while Riley Sharp, Madison Carey, and Kinsley Caruthers all had RBIs. Bethel finished with eight hits on the night and drew four walks.

Emma Cummings took the loss for the Tigers, allowing five earned runs on seven hits in 3.2 innings. Elle Prewitt provided 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.

Georgetown struggled to generate offense, collecting just three singles. Michalee Clay, Kinley Lucas, and Alanna Pierce all hit for a single.

No. 6-seed Bethel will play No. 3-seed Campbellsville (Ky.) on Thursday at 1:30 P.M. C.T.
