Freed-Hardeman Headed to the Finals Again, Beats Georgetown in MSC Men's Basketball Semifinals

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. --
Third-seeded Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) upset second-seeded Georgetown (Ky.) 67-59 tonight in the MSC Men's Basketball Tournament Semifinals at Studle Financial Arena.

The Lions (25-5) advance to play top-seeded Cumberlands (Ky.) for the championship at 7:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday, March 4. Freed-Hardeman has won back-to-back conference tournament titles and is riding a seven-game MSC Tournament winning streak entering tomorrow night's game.

Freed-Hardeman held the Tigers (26-4) to a season-low 59 points and just 40.4 percent (22-of-56) shooting. The Lions also out-rebounded Georgetown 37-29.

Freed-Hardeman -- who led 33-27 at the half -- extended its lead to 11 points in the first four minutes of the second half. A solid offense -- Freed-Hardeman shot 48.1 percent (26-of-54) from the field -- and the Lions' stellar defense kept the Tigers at arm's length the rest of the game.

Georgetown managed to cut the Freed-Hardeman lead to 42-40 with 14:03 left, but the Lions responded with a 7-0 run to push the lead back to nine. The Tigers closed to within five points on two occasions over the final 10 minutes but could get no closer in the setback.

Peyton Law led the Lions with a game-high 15 points, including making seven of his 11 shots. He also added a team-high seven rebounds. Geraldo Lane added 11 points.

Georgetown's Jabrion Spikes led the Tigers with 14 points while Tre Dozier added 12 points and 10 rebounds.
