BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Eight Mid-South Conference men's soccer student-athletes have been named to the NAIA All-America Team, NAIA officials announced on Tuesday.
Cumberland's (Tenn.) Philipp Schmidtke and Miquel Gelabert and Bethel's (Tenn.) Souleymane Balde earn NAIA First-Team All-American honors, while Cumberlands' (Ky.) Bruno Garcia and Lindsey Wilson's (Ky.) Michael Rempel earned second-team honors. Bethel's Horace Avila Jr. and Cumberlands' Mario Fernandez and Javiero Izquierdo were selected to the third team.
The three teams (first, second, and third) are selected by the NAIA All-America Committee, which consists of the NAIA-Men's Soccer Coaches Association officers and four men's soccer coaches representing different regions of the association.
Schmidtke -- the MSC Men's Soccer Player of the Year -- led the conference with 16 goals to go along with his 12 assists during the season, while Gelabert -- the MSC Men's Soccer Freshman of the Year -- added 15 goals. Balde ended the season with 14 goals
Garcia helped anchor a Cumberlands' defense that won the MSC regular-season title and reached the NAIA National Tournament Semifinals. Rempel earned MSC Defensive Player of the Year while scoring three goals and assisting on seven more for the Blue Raiders.
Avila contributed eight goals and nine assists while helping Bethel to the MSC Tournament title and a spot in the national tournament final site. Fernandez scored one goal and added five assists during the season, while Izquierdo posted a 0.98 goals-against average with seven shutouts in 2025.
Izquierdo and Rempel repeat as all-Americans. Both players earned second-team honors in 2024.
