Campbellsville Women's Soccer Knocks Off Cumberland to Advance to MSC Tournament Championship

LEBANON, Tenn. -- 
The No. 4-seed Campbellsville women's soccer team took the road to battle the top-seeded Cumberland University Phoenix in the MSC Tournament Semifinals on Wednesday. With a two-goal advantage over Cumberland, Campbellsville moved on to the Mid-South Conference championship game.

  • Wilma Gidlof led the Tigers with one assist, three shots, and one shot on goal, followed by Alejandra Rocha with one goal, two shots, and one shot on goal.

  • Today's win is Campbellsville's first win against Cumberland this season; the Tigers had not won against the Phoenix since early in the 2024 season.

Laura Munoz put Campbellsville on the scoreboard first with a penalty kick goal at the 15:52 mark. Cumberland attempted to claim dominance on the field, but the Tigers' defense did not allow them to come any closer to scoring. Alejandra Rocha scored next ten minutes later with another goal for the Tigers, assisted by Wilma Gidlof. At the half, Campbellsville led the game 2-0.

Within ten minutes of the start of the second half, the Phoenix made it to the scoreboard with a penalty kick goal of their own. Cumberland collected a few shots, but the Tiger defense blocked their attempts. At the 76:06 mark, Grace Smith scored Campbellsville's third goal. The Phoenix attempted to retaliate, but their offensive efforts were not enough before the time on the clock expired, resulting in a 3-1 loss to the Tigers.
