TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Cumberlands (Ky.) men's cross country finished third at the NAIA National Championships on Friday at the Apalachee Regional Park.
The Patriots tallied 160 team points, boasting two top-10 finishers and three total harriers in the top-50 of the 326-man field.
Ishak Mekidech led Cumberlands, finishing fifth, with a time of 24 minutes and 34.6 seconds. Julius Makine crossed the finish line in 24:39.4 to end in 10th place. Both earn NAIA All-America Team honors for their finish. The top 40 finishers in the event earn all-American honors.
Cumberlands Noah Loser just missed all-American honors after finishing 45th in the championship. He ended the 8,000 meters in 25:22.2.
A trio of Patriots finished in a group. Noah McClellan (25:33.7) finished 62nd, Ryan Ehrler (25:34.4) crossed in 63rd, and Niklas Scherb (25:35.0) finished 66th. Casey Desilvey ended in 25:58.9 to finish 104th as the final Patriot harrier.
Four Mid-South Conference individuals also competed on Friday.
Campbellsville's (Ky.) Martin Batel finished 142nd with a time of 26:13, while Lindsey Wilson's (Ky.) Dashawn Overly crossed the line in 170th place at 26:27.7. Campbellsville's Aaron Smith finished 201st with a time of 26:39.4, and Bethel's (Tenn.) Cedrion Cook finished 233rd with a time of 26:57.8.
Indiana Wesleyan captured the national championship with a team total of 117 points. The Master's (Calif.) finished second with 128 points.
The Master's Jack Anderson won the individual title with a time of 24:15.4.
