Bethel Wins First-Ever Mid-South Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament Title

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – No. 2 seed Bethel (Tenn.) claimed the program's first Mid-South Conference Men's Soccer Tournament championship tonight with a 2-0 win over fourth-seeded Cumberland (Tenn.) at Walter Butler Stadium.

The Wildcats (12-1-2) claim the MSC's automatic bid into the NAIA National Championship, which begins on November 20 at various sites across the NAIA. The tournament field is scheduled to be announced at 5 p.m. CT on Friday, November 14.

Bethel scored the game's first goal in the seventh minute as Horace Avila Jr. scored an unassisted goal for the 1-0 lead.

Avila Jr. was in on the second goal as well. He assisted Souleymane Balde's goal in the 27th minute for a 2-0 lead.

Diego Camargo made the lead stand, stopping the two Cumberland (13-3-3) shots he faced.

With the shutout, Bethel outscored its opponents 7-1 during the tournament.
