A trio of Mid-South teams ranked in NAIA Men's Wrestling Preseason Top 25 Poll

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Three Mid-South Conference teams are ranked and three other teams earn a mention in the NAIA Men's Wrestling Preseason Top 25 Poll, national office officials announced on Thursday.

Campbellsville (Ky.), Cumberland (Tenn.), and Cumberlands (Ky.) all earned a national ranking, while Georgetown (Ky.), Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), and Rio Grande (Ohio) all received voting points but sit outside the Top 25.

Campbellsville is the top-ranked MSC team in the poll at No. 5 in the NAIA. The Tigers received 174 points from the national raters. Campbellsville has 11 wrestlers ranked individually in the NAIA, led by Shadrick Slone, who is ranked second in the nation at 174 pounds. Campbellsville opens its season at the Patriot Open on Nov. 1.

Cumberlands is No. 8 in the preseason poll with 142 points. The Patriots boast 10 ranked wrestlers, led by Matteo Vargo's No. 3 national ranking at 125 pounds. Cumberlands opens its season as the host of the Patriot Open on Nov. 1.

Cumberland opens the season at No. 9 with 136 points. Eight Phoenix grapplers are ranked, led by Jared Dinh, who is the top-ranked wrestler in the NAIA at 141 pounds. Cumberland joins Campbellsville and Cumberlands at the Patriot Open to kick off its season.

Lindsey Wilson received 40 points, Rio Grande earned 19 points, and Georgetown picked up eight points to earn a mention in the preseason ranking.

Thirty-five MSC grapplers are ranked in the preseason poll.

Grand View (Iowa) is the top-ranked team with 225 points. Life (Ga.) is No. 2 with 190 points, followed by Southeastern (Fla.) with 185 points.

The first regular-season poll is scheduled to be released on Thursday, Nov. 6.
